چکیده

There is controversy regarding the clinical utility ofclassifying foods according to their glycemic responses by using the glycemic index (GI). Part ofthe controversy is due to methodologic variables that can markedly affect the interpretation ofglycemic responses and the GI values obtained. Recent studies support the clinical utility of the GI. Within limits determined by the expected GI difference and by the day-to-day variation of glycemic responses, the GI predicts the ranking of the glycemic potential of different meals in individual subjects. In long-term trials, bow-GI diets result in modest improvements in overall blood glucose control in patients with insulin-dependent and non-insulin-dependent diabetes. Of perhaps greater therapeutic importance is the ability of bow-GI diets to reduce insulin secretion and lower blood lipid concentrations in patients with hypertriglyceridemia. Comparative Evaluation of the Effect of the Foods with Different Glycemic Indices on Blood Glucose and Serum Free Fatty Acids in Cycling, Male Athletes

Abstract Background and Objective: Carbohydrates are considered as the major source of energy in physical activity. Studies show that consumption of carbohydrate foods before exercise can balance blood glucose and free fatty acids and increase athletes’ performance. In this study , we compared the effect of three kinds of foods with different glycemic indices on blood glucose (BG) and se...

Uric Acid Level and Glycemic Status in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Background: Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases with an increasing prevalence worldwide. On the other hand, the relationship between Uric Acid (UA) level and glycemic index in type 2 diabetic patients is not clear. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the UA level and glycemic status in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, participants were ...

The effect of low glycemic index foods taken at dinner on blood glucose and insulin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes

Introduction: Diabetes is one of the most common endocrine diseases. With regard to the importance of blood glucose regulation in prevention of diabetic complications, glycemic and insulinemic response determination of foods containing carbohydrates is greatly important. The purpose of the present study, therefore, was to determine the effect of low glycemic index foods taken at dinner on fasti...

A Review of the Relationship between Dietary Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load and Type 2 Diabetes

Background: In recent decades, studies on type 2 diabetes (T2D), have adopted a new approach to the field of a more complete collection of variables related to the lifestyles and diet of people. Diet is an important factor in increasing the rate of T2D among individuals. Considering the consumption of a high-carbohydrate diet, little attention has been paid to the type of carbohydrates consumed...

Effects of Adding Date Seed Flour to White Flour on Glycemic Index and Satiety Index of White Bread

Introduction: Foods with low glycemic index (GI) and high satiety index (SI) have been associated with decreased risk of chronic diseases and obesity. This study investigated the effect of date seed flour (DSF) on the GI, glycemic load (GL), and SI of white bread (WB). Materials and Methods: Ten healthy subjects were examined on four different days within 3-6 days intervals to determine GI and ...
